Toolbox Talks are an important daily part of a safe worksite. Those few minutes to discuss hazards and how to safely mitigate them is a golden opportunity that should not be wasted. Safety leaders are often looking for new topics or sources of information to keep the toolbox talks relevant, impactful and worthy of remembering. To help everyone stay safe, we have created a collection of free toolbox talks.

Our toolbox talks are set up differently than others you may have used before. We put quick note summaries of the information at the bottom of the toolbox talk to help with your presentation.

Tips on performing a more impactful presentation

  • Know Your Audience. Using industry terms, slang or other relevant information helps with influence. Tailor your message to your audience.

  • Use Visual Aids, If Possible. Some are visual learners rather than auditory.

  • Rehearse. Look over the material before presenting it. This will help with confidence and eye contact.

  • Tell A Story. If you have a relevant story or example that helps drive the point home, use it.

  • Interact. Engage the audience and make it interactive. Ask questions and promote discussions.

  • Be Seen And Heard. Stand tall in front of the group so everyone can see and hear you. Some that have never used earplugs in loud environments may be hard of hearing.

  • Change The Tone. Changing your tone, speed and volume have different uses and emphasize different parts of a story.

  • Watch The Clock. Depending on your audience, you may only have one minute of their attention. Use it wisely.

  • Any Questions? Let the audience know you are open to questions after. Your talk may have raised some questions but many are too scared to ask them in a group setting.

  • Relax. Studies show that the #1 fear is public speaking. Stay calm while presenting and practice makes perfect.
